Kippen Campbell LLP, Solicitors and Estate Agents

Contact Name: Steve McLaren

Steve was enrolled as a solicitor on 8th November, 1983, trained in Stirling and Dunfermline and joined his present firm, Kippen Campbell LLP of 48 Tay Street, Perth, in 1985.

He was assumed as a Partner two years later, one of the youngest solicitors to be assumed as a Partner in Perth at the time.

He initially spent most of his time on Court work and tutored in Civil Advocacy at the University of Dundee between 1989 and 1996.

However, because of the firm’s major connections in the bus and laundry industries, he found that he was spending more and more time doing Employment Law until eventually going full-time on Employment Law work shortly after being accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as an Employment Specialist on 14th December, 1999.

Steve is a regular speaker on Employment Law at seminars organised by clients and various organisations in Perth and further afield.

He achieved his five-yearly reaccreditation as a specialist in Employment Law in December 2004 and December 2009.

Steve has a keen interest in football and has been a committee member of three separate testimonial committees for St. Johnstone players as well as being past secretary of St. Johnstone F.C. Business Club.

In 2012, he was invited to speak at the Law Society of Scotland AGM on Employment Law matters.

Steve has appeared in Employment Tribunals throughout the length of Scotland and has been instructed by Respondents in English Tribunal cases.

He also has experience of Employment Appeal Tribunals.

As well as Employment Tribunals, Steve regularly advises on redundancies, business reorganisations, TUPE, Compromise/Settlement Agreements, drafting and revising Contracts of Employment/Service Agreements and employment strategies.

In addition to transport and laundry as special interests, he has also regularly advised medical and dental practices.

Steve was very enthusiastic to be approached at an early stage in the development of United Employment Lawyers by Malcolm Mackay, an employment law hero of his! As someone with lengthy experience in Employment Law, Steve saw this organisation as a very worthwhile and unique addition to the services available to the public in relation to Employment Law and has no doubt whatsoever that the concept is exactly what those seeking employment advice will both welcome and need.
Outwith law, he still finds time to play five-a-side football, attend his local gym and occasionally attempt to sing karaoke!
